TN: 2010 Niepoort Coche Douro White

This is the first vintage of this Niepoort Douro wine. An interesting back story, as this was originally made for a restauranteur who decided later he didn't want it. So Dirk did what any good winemaker would do, he picked the best of the barrels and made an extremely limited bottling of 1500 liters, all of which was accounted for prior to release. 100% new oak, and this went through full Malolactic Fermentation (though you wouldn't know it if not told). Dirk served this blind us. Plenty of acidity, grapefruit, citrus, spices late, and a silkyness that was quite white burg-ish. This was gaining steam in the glass with every minute and I only wish I could have spent more time with it. But alas, everyone loved it and it was gone in a flash. As such, I wasn't able to take a detailed note as this was consumed in a more social setting, so my tasting note (and score) doesn't convey how good this really is.
