A long time favorite but not tried in years. Surprised to see I have not posted on it before. Very nice cinnamon spice nose with lots of good fruit. NIce middle and finish. 92 points.

Richard, is this bottle looking at full maturity or looking young? I still have one bottle, how are the tannins, should I wait?

I think it is fully mature . Tannins waning just a bit. It will maintain for proabably decades and be drinkabale but it will not get any better. It is very smooth and great now and I have a lot of it as it our anniversary year, but I would not hold a single bottle past 2013, but note Andy V thinks it has 20 years to mature.

The last bottle I had was not yet mature. We tasted it blind and before I knew what it was I said it needed 10 more years. In fact I can't think of an example that I'd say was mature yet, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Maybe something was up ( wrong) with this bottle, but it was fully mature, nice balance but no sign of decades of improvment. Maybe I will try another bottle soon and have something to compare.

In the few examples of the G83 that I've had, I have consistently thought it was less mature than the G85. I don't think the G85 is mature yet - it's just more approachable right now - but it's definitely closer than the G83s that I've had.
