Graham's Malvedos 1984 :
Ruby/garnet color with tawny edges showing some evolution. Decanted for 3 hours. Intense and complex nose of licorice, herbs, dried plums and figs, no alcool showing. On the palate, the entry is shy, then it blossoms on sweet cherries and licorice flavours, surprisingly thight tannins showing on mid pallet, fine grain bringing a drier touch to a normally very sweet Graham's style, balanced, finish of good lenght on chocolate, licorice and tobacco. Not as deep and concentrated compared to the 85 tasted last week but surprisingly, it has more grip today. Only my 2nd 84 Vintage, way better than that Messias. 16.5/20

Not a vintage of Malvedos one sees much of. Where'd you find this at?

And I get a lot of tobacco on Malvedos SQVP's. so that part of your note really stood out to me.

After 3 days, still packed with fruit but unidimensional and tannins completly melted.

Back when I lived in Virgina, a huge 4 store chain of wine shops had a LOT of 1982 and 1984 LBV's from this SQ and priced at $14.99 back then. They had a stack of cases of the 1984. Every time I'd walk in to buy another six bottles or typically a case of 1977 Warre's that they had for several years @ $29/bottle ... I always grabbed a couple of these bottles too. At around 8 years of age this was a stunning LBV and until I eventually had the 1994 Noval LBV some years later ... this was my early favorite in the category.
