TN: 1995 Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional Douro

Popped and poured and consumed over about 2 hours. Light cherries with fully resolved tannins, a little barnyard, very good acidity, and some minerality on the back end, this showed a distinctive Burgundian style. The finish was a touch short from a previous bottle, but sufficiently long. Also not as powerful and complex as a previous bottle I've had, which I would assume is due to bottle variation in this rarely seen older single varietal Douro wine.

The 1996 was overlooked but a really beautiful TN for most of a dozen years. Had a case of it before most people even knew what Qta do Crasto was, back in 1998. It was my very first full case purchase of any DOC Douro wine. I didn't buy another full case of Douro wines for another 3 years after that, when I found two six packs in OWC of 1991 Barca Velha. Those were the good old daze.

I've got 5 more of these so hopefully the rest are up to par of a bottle I had double blind not too long ago.
And wish I could find more old Douro wines. I really enjoy to "old school" style of 'em.

I know a really good time to open the next one. I'll open an older bottle to match.
