For The Love Of Port

I have had a Wine Cruzer for years now ... six to be exact. It is very good in many ways, but it is also very expensive.

Here is the latest and greatest way to bring your wines for domestic or international travel, replete with handle and wheels and very durable too. Andy and I both know the person who developed this and he is worthy of support here, as the product rocks. Unfortunately, at least for the moment, this is ONLY AVAILABLE in the USA and Canada. You can't beat the price nor ease.

I've used this for almost 3 years now and it rocks. You can get 12 bottles, extra clothes, and paperwork in it and it still is under the airline weight limits

That seems to be exactly what I use, except commercialized! I'm glad someone had the idea to make a piece of luggage the same size as the styro, as my home made version requires some clothes in the right places to remain snug

I have a 15 bottle styro shipper that I carry in a military "A" bag, sorta like a duffle bag but wider and shallower. With standard Port bottles it weighes exactly 50 lbs. No wheels, however, so it's a load.

I could supply my own shipper for the inside, but I've found they vary in size and shape quite a bit, so I would just spring for their shipper. Otherwise I think anyone might be wedging clothes into the right places. And of course bottles vary in size too, so I figure some clothes will end up being used on the inside depending on what you are carrying.

They really do vary, but my large bag usually fits them snug two dimensions and requires clothes for the third, then some extra socks or whatnot for undersized bottles or roomy insides to keep things from rattling around.

Love this, definitely getting one. I traveled with wine recently (Italy), it was quite an ordeal at check-in... lot's of caution tape, hand wringing, etc. This will be perfect for my first trip to MADEIRA

I am hoping that this carrier can be used with the new style rigid cardboard insets that hold the bottle necks in place. Anyone know?

I've used it on 3-4 flights and it's done its job. Not the Wine Cruzer, but not priced like it either.

as long as the outside dimensions of the box are about the same or a little smaller than yes it should. But IMO the styro holds the temp better and also gives more "padding" to keep the bottles safe from rough baggage handlers.

I use the Styro and cardboard boxes and wrap the bottles in bubble wrap (one sheet does the trick). This not only keeps the bottles from making noise and moving around in the styro, but also gives it another layer of padding to prevent any type of breakage. So far, even with old bottles, I've had no issues with broken bottles or bottles getting warm (knock on wood, LOL).
