1977 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

11 hr decant.
Extremely dark in colour - hard to beleive this is from 77. A melange of sweet spices, black pepper violets and blueberries on the nose. It has a big, viscous mouthfeel with concentrated flavours and a surprising amount of primary fruit for a port of this age. It's long, with an ever so slight heat but with solid tannins providing plenty of length.
A further 24 hrs on, it had mellowed a little which tightened up the balance, but the impressive elements of the first day were still present with no signs of deterioration. 93 on day one, but a notch higher on day 2. 94 points
