TN: 2005 Quinta do Vale Meao Douro red

This tasting note is based on consuming two bottles with one week apart. Both dinners with meat. One of the best Douro reds I have ever tasted. I remind you that this is the same quinta that did the Barca Velha until Vale Meao started on their own around year 2000.
3.5 hrs decanting. Dark purple-red colour with a touch of brown. Deep, wide aroma of dark berries, oak, terroir, leather. Full body. Powerful with an explosion of tastes such as berries, oak, leather, rubber etc. More acid than many Douro reds, but at an acceptable level. A big wine. Towards the end it became more and more elegant. Well balanced, a very interesting and pleasant wine to drink. 96 pts.
