1985 Fonseca Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (10/2/2013)
Decanted 5hrs. Color is a tone of red fading towards brown. Alcohol perfectly integrated, lots of fruit still and tannins still there but not aggressive (ie, the mouth wasn't harsh afterwards). Felt a little too sweet. Intricate finish. Really enjoyed it, drank half the bottle in one evening. Put the other half away in a half bottle the following morning (filled to the neck) and stored in the fridge. Brought it out the following day in the afternoon. Still v nice but seemed to have faded some. (94 pts.)

Fonseca is one of the best of the vintage.

Miguel, I agreed with your impression but must admit my surprise that after only a 5 hour decant, (not much for this particular VP) that it seemed faded the next day. I would typically expect just the opposite.

My tasting note was confusing.

I only poured the remainder into a half bottle by the morning. It had been in decanter for some 14-16 hours at that point.

It then rested in the fridge in a half-bottle for some 30 additional hours until i brought it back out and felt it had faded some.
