It looks like Knightsbridge Wine in Illinois (knightsbridgewine.com) has the 1987 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port Quinta de Vargellas in stock for $59.96 a bottle. I don't know if this is a good price or not, but I've been keeping an eye out for the wine, and it has been hard to find this vintage stocked in the US. So, if anyone is interested, you might want to order from their site.
Roy and Andy and others might be able to weigh in on whether this is a decent deal or not. :)
Of course, I have no affiliation with this or any other retailer, etc.

I'm not sure about the 87, but we had the 88 at the quinta on the recent trip, and my notes gave it the asterix denoting a wine I would purchase if I got the chance.

I never tasted the 87 but I did Roy did mention a few times that it was a really good wine. As for the price, for here in Quebec it is the regular price, but normally we pay more than the USA for Port.
I did take the 88 last week and it is good indeed!

Grab a case, or even two cases!
This is a Vintage Port that you really want to own and have at the ready in your cellar. It is famously enjoyable and the '87 Vargellas is in my top ten VPs of the entire decade!
They will easily last for another two decades, but are delicious today when decanted properly. I believe this is the kind of Port you just keep buying when you find them at reasonable prices like this ... if the provenance is solid.

These are available in the UK for £108 for 6 plus tax. That's just under £24 per bottle including tax. $59 seems reasonable given the extra cost of shipping over to the US.

My stock consisted of five bottles bought at Tom Chadwick's auction house in Abergavenny.
With only four bottles left, I am minded to increase my stock - if anyone else has the same thoughts, please let me know so we can cooperate.

Great. I bought a few, too. It's delicious now, and I'm looking forward to trying more over the next few years.
