It was mentioned that we all need to start posting more tasting notes on the not so well scored Ports. You know, those basic ones we sometimes drink but don't tell to many people about for whatever reason. Add me to that group as I have to admit I've been somewhat remiss in posting notes on these. That said, here's my first contribution to the cause.

NV Taylor Fladgate Special Tawny Port
This is their basic Tawny Port, I think. Anyone know if there is a lower tier tawny from them??? Bought to fill out a case at auction, it appears to have been bottled at least 4-6+ years ago. Anyways, a light ruby and cola color with some bricking. Nose of overripe strawberries and spirit. The palate is sharp, lacking in freshness which in all fairness is probably due to the extended bottle age, overripe cherries, and a dash of leather. The finish has a large amount of spearmint and alcohol protruding and with a clipped finish. While serviceable, this particular bottle isn't worth seeking out. That said, I would like to try a fresh bottle to compare to this older version as this TN is only for this older bottling.

So I guess we don't need to rush out and buy a case. Thanks for the heads up Andy! [cheers.gif]

Well again this had some age to it. Which I'm quite certain is safe to say TFP doesn't intend for someone to do. Still need to get a fresh bottle and give it a go. Just for comparison purposes.
