Taylor Vintage Port Vertical (Los Angeles, California): Somewhat muted nose, showing some interesting cherry pie. Nice balance on the palate, with generic fruit and weak structure. Short. No faults, nothing disagreeable, this just didn't show much interest or personality, unlikely to improve with cellaring. I may be being a little harsh on this one. 10 hours in decanter.

Maybe just a little, but not much.

LOL, true. It has always been experience that this has never been a top notch VP by any means.

I think both horizontals (Taylor in LA, followed the next week by Fonseca in NYC) demonstrated that very well. My scores at both tastings dipped precipitously in the 1980s, with the expected notable exceptions of F85 and TV87. Actually, those served more to highlight just how mediocre the preceeding Ports were.
