1970 Graham Vintage Port

Decanted 8 Hours. This bottle was Oporto Bottled in 1972; the label and bottle is perfect and current with bar codes, etc (perhaps ex-cellars). The cork came out nearly whole with a standard corkscrew; clearly labeled. Upon decanting the color was a light reddish pink; a good amount of sediment. Immediate floral scent with a cherry note. By the time this was tasted, the color was now a deep strawberry brown red or light maroonish--incredibly clear. Nose of dense cherry. Offered flavors of light cherry, strawberry, and little nuanced red fruits with an occasional sweet leather note--almost velvety texture. Just a touch of heat; acidity and tannins all in nice harmony. The finish lingered with those cherries the dominant flavor. What a gorgeous port--one of the best I've had. I had a glass (I set a small pour aside for day 2) and it was still much the same, perhaps just a little more lively before.
