Symington Family Douro Altano 2011 for $9.99

Post by Andy Velebil »

Symington Family Douro Altano 2011
A lush and creamy style, this offers concentrated flavors of raspberry tart, dark cherry and boysenberry, accented by notes of chocolate. The silky finish lingers with rich mocha details. Drink now through 2019. 4,300 cases imported.

Wine Spectator 91 Points

THE STORY
Initially sourced entirely from the Symington family's Assares vineyard, the first of their three properties in the Vilariça Valley to be granted full organic certification. The other two properties, Quinta do Ataíde and Quinta da Canada were fully organically certified from the 2010 vintage. Together, the three vineyards add up to 126 hectares (311 acres), the largest organically farmed vineyard holding in Portugal and very probably in the whole of Europe.

"Regular Price : $17.99" - That sounds a bit ambitious on their part. No wonder it is on sale. That wine is normal around $12 in my parts. At $10 with free shipping is a no brainer for those who cannot find this wine easily. One of my favorite table wines.

Agree. I've not had the 2011 yet, but this is normally a very good QPR. And at this price is a no brainer, as you said.
