1983 Niepoort Vintage Port

Decant: 4½ hours - Firm red colour, 50% opaque. Gentle strawberry syrup on the nose, mixed in with some dusty charcoal. Neutral entry, the fruit is very gentle and restrained with strawberry jam arriving late but heralding a mid-palate that develops nicely to be attractive. Soft tannins provide some spice and suport the jammy strawberries on the very long finish. 90 points
