Decant: 8½ hours - Deep red-mahogany with bricking on the rim; still 90% opaque. Somewhat closed nose with cigar ash and some slight VA. Balanced entry, some restraint but lovely development on the palate. Still youthful and with the same chalky tannins found in the 1983 alongside. Fine palate development and a great presence gives pleasurable drinking now and for a decade or two. The finish is of red licorice and is big and vigorous, long and sweet. Good port. 90 points
