In Tom's tasting notes on his '97 Niepoort there was a discussion on the buyer's premiums charged by the major auction houses in the UK.
Tom mentioned that Christie's charge a buyer's premium of 10%. I think its worth pointing out that since 1 January this year, Christie's in London have been charging 12½% plus VAT.

As far as I found out that is correct.
For the non UK People Amsterdam could be a even more interresting place. There, the Buyers Premium is 15% incuding the local VAT of 23.8% up till 150,000€.
Paris unfortunately has no Wines as far as I saw

.

Alex - you're right!
They didn't go out of their way to publicise that though
My auction bid calculator will need a little tweaking!

Some of the US auction houses, including Acker, charge 19½%, which is just outrageous.

However, The Chicago Wine Company charges no buyer premium, which is why I frequent their auctions. You can find them at
http://www.tcwc.com. I'm have no interest in them other than being a satisfied customer.
