2001 Rozès LBV Port -- .375ml

Color: Deep dark red with dark brown.
Nose: Mature picture, black plum, prunes, raisins, some spices and wood???
Palate: Medium to full bodied, good concentration, mature fruit as above, the wine has a long finish, firm in the end. Sweet but very dry, tough tannins and dryness from wood I think.
Foodmatch: Difficult
Cellaring: Nope
The wine is quite mature and developed, it has a lot of rough dry tannins and I think some dryness from oak. All the dryness makes the wine very unbalanced.

Is this the unfiltered? The 1994 Unfiltered I've had has finally started to come round and is drinking quite well. Thanks for the notes on this.

Bjorn altough this LBV 2001 was a deception in my opinion, belive me that one of the best LBV's I ever had was the classic LBV 95 UNF from Rozès, it's so interesting, pepery aftertaste, I still have 2 bottles back at my home, not at Vinologia, but if you ever come one day here to Porto and pass here I would be happy to open a bottle of that for us to taste!
The invitation is opened, next time you're here don't forget, I 'll be happy to show that Rozès makes some of the bests LBV and VP in the market.

Gustavo, I agree 100%. A very good LBV. Only one bottle left in my cellar :wall:
What do you think about LBV 97 unfiltered? Buy or pass?

Just bought at Rozes '94 LBV for $21.00 an NH Liquor Store. Haven't tried it yet, but based on what I have read here- I have big expectations.
How would this compare to Ferriera, Noval, or Warres LBV's?

The 1994 Rozes LBV says Unfiltered on the bottle.

I've posted a coupe of TN's on the forum in the past on the 1994. I would recommend a longer decant time. 8-12 hours.
A bit different style then the Warre's, but on par IMO. I'm not a big fan of Noval's LBV's so cannot comment there.
