750 ml bottle decanted via the "Hersh" method and then half poured back into a 350ml bottle, stoppered and put in the refrigerator. We'll break that out next weekend.

Upon decanting Dark purple color. A litte apricot (?) on the nose, a small amount of alcohol, but not much.

Right now, the alcohol is extremely well integrated. A bit grapey right now, some hints of chocolate. My wife gets pomegranate.

1 hour This is starting to develop very nicely. Strong cocoa flavors now. Strong but not overwhelming tannins. Overall, the wine has become bolder and fuller. It has opened up nicely.

More tomorrow.

24 hours I stored the decanter in the fridge to slow this down a bit. The second day, this is still drinking very nicely. Very little alcohol on the nose or the palate. Grape and cocoa are the predominate tastes.

I would still give this a 89/100. A solid LBV.

Filtered or unfiltered

Axel, it was unfiltered but it didn't have a lot of sediment.

Rob,

an unltfiltered LBV does depot-wise behave like a Vintage Port. The sediments develope with the years. The 2000 is quite young and I just had it 3 days ago for the last time. I like that LBV very much and it outtasted a couple of Vintage Port in a direct tasting.

Best wishes

Axel
