I picked up a case of 12 Krohn Colhieta 1985 very cheap from a wine merchant in France over the internet - 12 euro per bottle including tax. According to the label it was bottled in 1999.

I opened one bottle on the day it arrived in the UK. The wine was cloudy and has not yet cleared after 2 days standing up. It tastes fine but nothing spectacular.

Any ideas why a colhieta would be cloudy like this? Could it be the travelling? Does this wine throw sediment?

Derek,

It is quite common for colheitas to have some sediment, especially those that have been sitting in the bottle for a number of years. Some are even bottled that way to "enhance" the flavor. Often times, the sediment in colheitas is very fine indeed and can take much more that a few days to settle especially after shipping. I have from time to time found that Krohn colheitas can have a haze to them.
