TN: 2001 Niepoort Vertente

I didn't feel like a port tonight :shock: but i really had the thirst for a Douro dry wine. I figure since they are both from Portugal, you guys would forgive me this little indescretion.

No formal TN, but a nice nose that reminds me of a young Bordeaux. Still some noticable tannins and solid fruit that shows no sign of age. This is drinking quite well and has a rather long finish. I got a few more left and I think I'll save one or two for a couple more years as an experiment. This really hit the spot tonight!

2005 is very similar to 2001. You should taste it very soon and you'll see that you'll find again that young claret character.

Thanks Fred, the Vertente is one of my favorite QPR's from the Douro region.
