2005 Domingos Alves de Sousa Reserva Pessoal Douro

Picked this up while in Portugal as I've never heard of this particular wine from Domingos Alves de Sousa. The label says this is a field blend of more than 20 different varieties of 80 year old vines. A nose of tanned leather and dark berries. The palate was a bit soft at first then the tannins started to pick up with air. A combination of dark berries with a tartness in the background. A moderate finish kept my attention. No idea where this lands in their line-up, but it would make a good cellar defender to help keep your hands off your bottles of Abandonado.
