TN: 2011 Portal Colheita Douro

I ran across this at my local Costco store and for $13, and since the stupid sticker on the bottle said Wine Spectator 92 points, I had to get a couple bottles. I'm a sucker aren't I? Loads of succulent bacon fat, which I like and almost never get on Douro wines, tar, black cherries, moderate and well balanced tannins, all wrapped into a medium body. The finish is a little short, and the only short coming that keeps it from getting a higher score. But that's being nit-picky, so don't let that turn you off. I don't agree with the 92 points bestowed upon this, but it still is one of the best $13 Douro wines I've had in a long long time. I'm going back for more.
89 Points

Wow, Portal at Costco! The only Douro we get is Meandro. Not that, that is bad and they've carried for quite some time which is surprising to me. The Waltham, MA Costco keeps claiming they sell more liquor than any Costco nationally, but I have a very hard time believing that when compared to scale of Scottsdale, AZ Costco for instance.

I was in Costco here locally and did not see any as of yet. At $13 I'd be very happy to purchase Douro wine at 89 AV points.

Had another bottle last night. Still rocking the same greatness for $13 :)
