From day 2 of the 1985 horizontal, 24-25 Jan 2015, Holiday Inn Issaquah. All Ports were tasted blind. Unless otherwise noted, Ports were decanted for ~4 hours the morning of the tasting. The ones that I decanted received ~8 hours of decant overnight and were then stoppered for another ~6 hours until the tasting.
1985 Croft Vintage Port
Color: Medium dark red, very clear.
Nose: Tangy, slightly sour. Very slight VA which might be contributing to the sour note.
Palate: Rich, round, full, and gorgeous. Well-balanced tannins and acidity. Black fruits, but with redder notes to keep them brighter.
Score: 93 points. One to acquire (along with the Kopke) as it seems underrated in general. Others took more offense to the slight VA than I did, but if you're sensitive to it then this might be a risky vintage for you in general.
