From day 2 of the 1985 horizontal, 24-25 Jan 2015, Holiday Inn Issaquah. All Ports were tasted blind. Unless otherwise noted, Ports were decanted for ~4 hours the morning of the tasting. The ones that I decanted received ~8 hours of decant overnight and were then stoppered for another ~6 hours until the tasting.
1985 Churchill Vintage Port
Color: Dark garnet, purple hints.
Nose: Fruity and very faintly sour (probably light VA). Light eucalyptus.
Palate: Tannic and slightly dry. Dry black fruit. Very faint VA.
Score: 92 points. I guessed this as the Dow due to the slightly dry palate and eucalyptus on the nose. Oh well. I normally get a redder palate (dryish red raspberries and strawberries) for 1985 Churchill, but this is right about where I usually score it.
