1983 Cockburn VP
pop-n-pour just in case.

Color: Medium purple/garnet. It looks younger than a 1983, which is fairly typical for this Port.

Nose: Lots of stone fruits - plum, maybe some prune, black cherry, and some very faint stewed (very ripe) peach.

Palate: Lots of dark fruits. Very solid. A bit bitter, but very rich and round. Mouth filling. Very expressive. Some chocolate or mocha, especially on the finish. Impressive.

Score: 94 points. Despite identical scores, I preferred this to the Porto Rocha 150th Anniversary Tawny. No one detected the slightest hint of TCA, so either we got a lucky bottle or pop-n-pour allowed the fruits to overpower it for the couple of hours we spent tasting it. It was still singing after 5 hours, though, so I suspect this was simply a pristine bottle.
