2.5 hrs decanting. A lot of sediments when decanting (much more than on the 2004 and 2005-vintages). Dark red colour with a touch of brown. Aroma of herbs, flowers, some berries and oak, all with some sweet overtones. Medium body. Relatively smooth, a bit dry, a bit “thin” in the middle part, dry towards the end (also powerful at the end, and with acidity well integrated). Weak quality of this Chryseia. 86 pts.

This is a wine that went through a period when it wasn't very exciting, then around the 2007 it really started to turn around in quality and style, IMO. I was never a big fan of that early modern style, it just didn't do the wine justice. Though the 2000 is drinking nicely now, but aging too quickly. It's now slightly more Douro-like now and I think that is what it really needed to stand out.
