At 4 to 5 hours after decanting. Bright dark red with slight paleness at the rim where there is some attenuation. At first on the nose, the main elements are raisin on top and walnut underneath. But there is a spicy tail from which there gradually emerge medicinal notes and perhaps a hint of burnt orange. On the palate, the primary fruit has faded. This is not a powerfully sweet wine. Rather, it is relatively dry and sophisticated. There is good acidity and tannins make their presence felt on the finish. The overall impression is of great compsure. A very harmonious example with tangy complexity which, at 23 years of age, is basically good to go. No rush to drink, but I do not detect the intensity at the core which would suggest that the wine has the potential with further time to go ethereal. 94pts.
