Krohn 30 Year Old Tawny Port
Posted: Wed Nov 11, 2015 8:48 pm
Bottled in 2011 (FYI, for those that recently got these from Premier Cru, this didn't come from them so I don't know if the bottling date is the same as those). There was some light but noticeable sediment so let this settle before opening. Lots of mahogany and clove on the nose. At first there is a soft wave of older drying old mahogany, cedar box, and that clove which was on the nose. Then a large wave of acidity kicks in, more than most in this class. That acidity carries through to the long finish. Once that initial soft wave transitions it becomes a seamless Port across the palate and into the very long finish. This is what a 30 year is all about, just an awesome Port.
