1977 Warres Vintage Port

Really light faint fruits aroma, with dried strawberry, watermelon candy, and then a bit of wet forest floor. That watermelon shows up in the mouth too. This is surprisingly tannic given the lighter color. This is nice, but a weaker showing compared to past tastings (several in the past year). Later there was some flavor of gum drops. 92 points? 91-92 points.

I've found that this particular vintage of Warre's can vary widely in quality, especially in color.

As you've probably read for years, this was my house Vintage Port for nearly four years, when that was just about all I drank in Port (meaning v. few wood-aged Ports) when living in Virginia 1992-1996. Wish I could still find them at $29 and I'd still be buying the WA'77 by the case!

Gould Campbell, Ferreira and Smith Woodhouse come to mind. Otherwise, not much?

Same here on the SW. I've never found a light one, and if I do in the next few years I will be very suspect of the source. I've had those others, but not enough to comment on consistency.
