1977 Niepoort Vintage Port

Decanted 1 hour, 10 year tawny rim, brick red center. Short branded cork was mostly soaked through, but came out whole. Excellent well into neck fill.
Brilliantly fruity on the nose, with loads of strawberry and raspberry fruit, and vague floral and cinnamon notes as well. The palate is equally fruity up front, with some floral and Christmas spices to the middle and more red fruits and cinnamon to close. A relatively light and sweet port, this is the best showing of the bottles I acquired from a private couple in Seattle, and while tasty and showing well, isn't my ideal VP experience due to the heat and very mild VA. I could see fans of more feminine VPs like Ferreira finding a lot to like here. The wine doesn't show as well 12 hours later, so a short decant and relatively quick consumption is wise.
