WTB - 1953 Port

This would be a gift for my father-in-law for his upcoming birthday. He loves Port but hasn't had much more than a few 10-year tawnys so anything from that vintage would be good. I'm not sure if 1953 was even a declared vintage (nothing on Wine-Searcher), but Vintage Port or Colheita would both be fine.

I have a good friend born in this year. Good luck finding ANY Port, no less a vintage from that year. You CAN however, occasionally find Madeira from that year.

Update: I found a bottle of 1953 Royal Oporto Colheita at
Sterling Cellars in NY for $135. After reading a few favorable reviews here and on Cellar Tracker, I'm looking forward to trying this. Looks like they also have the 1944.
Also - does anyone have insight on the life of this after it is opened? Is it pretty much a one night experence? Or can you get a few days of enjoyment after pullng the cork?

Please feel free to smack me upside the head considering I had this '53 again just a month ago. Doh!
It is the best Port I have ever tasted from Royal Oporto, period. It is a big step up from the 1944 and if you have really found some at a good price you are quite fortunate. A memorable Port (for most people with better memories of course).
Everyone who tried it (on the Harvest Tour) was wow'd by this Colheita!
Once opened, if you keep it refrigerated, you can probably keep this in great shape for even a week. It is no shy flower by any stretch of the imagination and will require little decant time. Your grandfather is going to love this Port and so are you!
