For The Love Of Port

My wife and I are long-time fans of Wine & Soul, and especially the Pintas Douro red which we will continue to buy. Have had all Pintas Character vintages from 2006 up to 2011. For us the quality has gone a bit the wrong way. Vintages 2006 and 2007 were fairly stable at 92 pts level, but for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 the quality has been sliding down to 87-88 pts level.

This was our last bottle of 2011 Pintas Character. Decanted 2.5 hrs. Dark purple colour with a light rim. Deep fruity aroma with oak in the background. Medium body. Powerful, dry at start, the fruit, rough tannins. Too much acidity. Medium length aftertaste. 87 pts.
