Based on all the good things I’m hearing I’ll bet there is going to be a lot of people declaring. Can’t wait to try them in due course.

Oh my... 600 (9L) cases of The Stone Terraces? That's the largest declaration ever! 2011 was 250 cases, 2015 was 400 cases, and 2016 was 350 cases.

For a "down" production year, that seems counter-intuitive. Perhaps they prioritized The Stone Terraces since it sells for 2x - 3x what the regular Graham's sells for?

And Vesuvio made 472 cases of Capela, vs. 1200 cases of Quinta do Vesuvio. Those might be the only 2017s I buy, unless some great prices come up.

You mean both or just the Capela? I have my eye on those as well. Though prices are being inflated this past 3 years (15, 16 & 17).

Quinta de Vale Meão has also declared. Was announced on ProWine.

I was thinking about both, but will wait to see what the actual prices are.

If you look carefully at the label on the vintage port site you will see that only 530 of those cases contain 75cl bottles, which suggests that the other 70 cases contain proper sized bottles 8--)

Credit to Alex B for noticing this earlier today :salute:

Noticeably absent and not declared:

Quinta de Roriz and Smith Woodhouse ... IF only Gould Campbell still existed.

Like other recent vintages, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the lesser brands are released in very small quantities into specialist markets. It probably just doesn't make commercial sense to include them in the marketing drive that has now begun. With so many new small producers I don't think these other labels make sense to the big producers in the current market.

So potentially 280 Tappit Hens?

Probably quite a few less than that, actually, given that they'll probably also be making magnums, 3L, and maybe 6L if we're lucky.

Iirc, the Sym’s don’t generally bottle VP beyond 3L anymore.

You are sooooo Tappit Hen needy I fear for your economy posting this.

2017 The Stone terraces consist of
  • 6360 individually numbered bottles
    180 Magnums
    120 Tappit Hens
20% ABV
Acidity 4.22 (g/l)
Baumé 4.00

Full specs here

The Dow 2017 data sheet is the only other from the Symingtons to mention format quantities, being 5,250 cases, including 240 magnums and 200 Tappit Hens.

Does anyone have the time to make a formal list from all mentions of Port firms to already declare and we can keep a comprehensive list going on the first page so that we don't always have to search for it? The person willing to do this will get all the credit and be mentioned in that particular thread post.

I will be releasing another newsletter tonight or Thursday, with some pretty cool features and hopefully it is not going to exceed 60 pages, but if it does, it shouldn't be too much more! :scholar: That will be between 90-100 pages in the past dozen days. Thank God for voice activation technology, it reduces about 70% of my typing. [yahoo.gif]

I have done it previous years and also doing it on my Facebook page anyway. So I volunteer.

Thanks Thomas. Let me know how to best keep track and if the first post in this thread will be good for everyone?

On a separate note, I remember having a Niepoort 2017 last June and was given a 2nd bottle to bring home. I just checked and yes, it is a Niepoort 2017 Vintage Port. I am so tempted to open it. Soon!!

Thomas,
Many thanks for volunteering. However, there's an issue. As Roy has posted the first post only Roy and moderators can change or edit it. As such, Glenn and I will take it up and list them in the very first post of this thread for easy reference.

Just make me a moderator DUH! [shok.gif] No worries.

Would be nice if you added the known number of cases made in parenthesis for each shipper?

I saw today that Romaneira only made 1100 cases [shok.gif]
