Have seen some interesting tasting notes of this red wine in the press, and purchased two bottles at a recent visit to the Pocas lodge in Gaia.
Decanted 2.5 hrs which was OK. Deep, deep dark purple colour (nearly black). Fresh appealing aroma of fruit in nice combination with a touch of minerals. Medium body. Powerful and to some degree elegant. The power stays on throughout the tasting/consuming. A lot of berries, but also minerals and herbs. Nice and slightly rough tannins. Dry towards the end including minerals. A fascinating wine which is a bit different than many other Douro red wines. 92 pts.
