1999 Croft LBV Port

Post by Al B. »

Freshly opened bottle. Deep plum red colour with a slight purple hint at the rim. Dark and opaque centre.

Alcoholic nose which blew off over the course of half an hour. Violets and blueberries but a touch dusty. Nose opens out over time.

Acidic entry, with the acid hitting the back of the mouth. Hot and spicy alochol with fruit overtones. Softens with airtime/ to strawberries. Medium sweet. Short length. Quite pleasant. 85/100.

30 minutes in the glass greatly improved the wine to the extent that it lost the overly alcoholic overtones and became dominated by bitter-sweet almonds and chocolate.
