Drank on 14 Oct 2007 with Roy Hersh and Charles Morgan in London.
1947 Barros – Colheita (Douro, Portugal)
Bottled in June 2007, my thanks to Roy for bringing this gem along. This is the first Port I have ever drunk from 1947. Light mahogany brown with a tinge of light red and a terracotta rim. The complex nose of beeswax, citrus fruit, dry white flowers and a hint of milk chocolate. Sip after sip revealed a spicy, delicate but light on its feet nectar. Ever so long lasting length, warming, lovely acidity that makes a mark on my tongue. A treasure and an honour to drink. Not huge in presence but very delicate and mellow. 96/100.
