For The Love Of Port

Come on, let's face it, we're talking the stuff in the supermarkets here but there are others. I've just polished off the end of a bottle of Warre's Otima which is especially nice when it's a bit chilled. Graham's, Taylor's and Fonseca all do rubbish 10 yo Tawnies (my opinion, no flaming), Dow is OK, so what else is out there that people like?

BTW, the other Warre's 10yo Tawny is called Sir William (Stevie, I knew there was another apart from Otima but couldn't remember it last time we spoke). Never tried it, so would be interested in opinions, is it different from Otima?

KillerB, I don't drink 10YOT that often, but I also like the Otima. Never tried the Warrior, though.
Nice ones for my taste include Burmester, Niepoort and Ventozelo. Kopke is very good as well, but make sure to find a recent bottling; somehow these turn extremely flabby after 2, 3 years in bottle. Never cared much for the Taylor or Fonseca, and the Graham's is....not to my taste.

Its been a while since I haven't bought any. I remember I didn't like very much Graham, but when I tasted it recently, it seems to me that change something in the blend, samething with the Warre. I would now recommend both!

Actually, Fred, when you had the Optima you had my favorite thus far.

I've tried a few others. The Noval was nice but if I did it again I'd take that $30 and invest it into the Optima and use the leftover $10 to catch a movie. Optima was by far my favorite for the price.

I'd be interested in trying the 10YO Kopke or Krohn, though, given that their specialty is tawny.

Neipoort and Noval are my first choices. Delaforce, Churchill's, Smith Woodhouse are also quite good (random order).

Next to the ones already mentioned here, Quinta da Casa Amarela is also very nice, but probably hard (if not impossible) to find.

I've always enjoyed Taylor's 10 year tawny but it sounds like there are better alternatives out there. I'll have to add some of the suggestions here to my list of 20 year tawnies to try.

One of my favorites is Delaforce's "His Eminences Choice." There's no indication of age but I believe it's their 10 year old blend. It's usually quite inexpensive as well.

Quinta da Casa Amarela is a Port Wine Producer that used to have only one Port Wine of their production: a 10Y Tawny. More recently a White Port was added to the Portfolio.
I've never tried their wines but have heard very good reviews from others. So, I've been curious about its 10Y Tawny in particular.

However, if right now I was given the option to choose one and only one 10 Year Old Tawny Port, my choice would have been "Quinta do Bucheiro, 10 years Old Tawny".
I like this 10Y Tawny so much, I even wonder whether out there there's any other 10Y better than Quinta do Bucheiro :!: :)
And an additional amazing thing is that Bucheiro's 10Y Tawny is incredibly inexpensive
