This was sold by the glass in a wine bar I visited last night. The wine bar sells around 3-4 bottles per week by the glass, so the wine was quite freshly opened.
Clear wine, lost its opacity. Red centre with a hint of rust at the edge but the colour indicates plenty of life left yet.
Nose subdued but very perfumed. Reminded me of the scent of roses, mixed with sweet blackcurrant drops.
Smooth and sweet into the mouth. Lots of liquorice and blackcurrant jam on first impact. Resolves into a complex mid-palate of dried cherries and chocolate supported by peppery alcohol.
Balanced tannins come through on the finish, which is dominated by chocolate. Great length.
Overall a good wine that, in my opinion, may well have some improvement yet to come. However, not as good as the Grahams '80. Scored at 90/100.
