NV Churchill's Reserve Port

Post by Jay Hack »

After I utterly trashed the NV Taylor Reserve (I think I gave it 55 pt only because I did not spit it out), I was pleasantly surprised when I found (after drinking a glass) that the port I had been served at a local restaurant as a desert wine was the NV Churchill's Reserve. No. it's not a VP. No, it did not make me consider the importance of a Supreme Being in the making of port. But it was generally a nice wine with normal port flavors, fruit, dark color, and average sweetness. There was a bit of annoying bitter aftertaste at the back of the palate similar to what I found in the Taylor, but it was like the difference between touching an aspirin to your tongue for a tenth of a second, versus chewing it before swallowing. I had just asked the waiter at our Holiday party whether they had any desert wines, and this is what he brought, so I was pleased. Let's say 83 points from someone who does not believe in point inflation.
Thanks Roy
