Quinta do Noval Nacional 1980 opened 15:00, consumed 20:00->; drunk on the 15.1.2008
The nose is rather elegant, lively but attractively aged. It has a very charming note of green tea on the nose. The palate is of moderate sweetness+, with good acidity for a VP. All the pieces fall in place so effortlessly - a great port! I enjoyed this immensely now, but I am sure it will continue to age well.

This port will in just a few days be available to buy at Systembolaget in sweden for almost 2000 SEK ( thats about 285 USD),
and I'd just like to know, how good is it, really?
Thats a lot of money for me, it would be stupid of me to buy, however, port is my passion. :)
So, tell me more about this port, please :)
also, for how many more years could it be stored, and maybe increase in value?
I'm pretty new to port, since a year, but a total novis when it comes to storaging. I have just recently bought a Dometic wine storage cabinet, and have so far filled it with these:
2 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port 2003
2 Quinta do Panascal Vintage Port 2005
4 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2003
and
4 bottles of Graham's Vintage Port 2000

Sebastian,
1980 was not one of Noval Nacional's finest hours. Given your relatively small collection I would recommend putting that money to better use. There is plenty of time for you to taste Nacional at some point in the future

:) Thank you
Then,i suppose, i must learn how to import to my country, because the only other old port they sell here is Krohn Colheita 1961 - wich, btw, i would have the same kind of questions about.

I agree with Derek on the fact that 1980 NN is not their greatest effort. Though, for the price, it will be hard to get anything cheaper for Nacional!!! I did buy some 83 and 87 around the same price of this 1980 so I could have some in my cellar. Today they are hard to find under 700$usd. Unless you have friends will cellar filled of Nacional or plan to get to the Douro one day it might be an interesting option to taste this Port.

You can store Colheitas, but most of them do not improve much (if at all) in bottle. Since they don't really improve in bottle, they also don't usually increase in value in bottle. The exception is when the producer runs out of a particular Colheita, at which point they can start to increase in value a little bit.
The few Krohn Ports that I have had have been good, so if I had the chance I would probably buy a 1961 Krohn Colheita if it were for a reasonable price. Their 1964 Colheita Branco is excellent - the 2nd best white Colheita that I have had next to the 1952 Dalva Golden White.
