Expecting a significant amount of snow this evening. Was organizing some things in the cellar, and these called to me. Who am I not to respond? Decanting for the evening. Will keep you posted….

Not a bad Port to be snowbound with. It was my favorite VP that I had in 2025. Enjoy, Andrew!

I will post some pictures. Surprisingly deep color for being a 49-year-old Porto. Cork was solid. Bottom 20% of the bottle was sediment. Smelled good out of the bottle. Very powerful. This was a 1500. Noticed there was a tiny amount of seepage so I decided to just open it. Seepage wasn’t there a month ago. Doesn’t appear to have done any harm.

Filtered some of the sediment to save it.

Is the photo in the first part of this posting? It was for me before, but not now. 1977 TF VP.

Deep, dark red color with a brownish rim. Initial flavours are black cherry, red apple. Very fruit forward. No burn whatsoever. Shorter finish than expected with honey and cognac, but overall, this is a big- no HUGE vintage ruby. May be peaking right now, but can’t say for sure- the 1500cc is aging differtly than the 750cc. Wonderful. Best 1997 I’ve had so far.
96-97 points.

The one of the label? Still showing for me. Glad this showed well!

That's a great looking glass of Port! It sounds like you had a wonderful bottle. Let us know how it shows over the next several days.

I’m afraid I can’t do that- we kicked it last night.

Hopefully that’s a statement of how good it was and not how bad the storm has been, haha

Well then, you certainly were "fortified" for the storm.

Storms are meant for Port. Or was that the other way around? Anyways, a tasty treat for a cold day.

2008 Malvedos last night. One of the better Malvedos I have had!

I have not had the 2008, but the majority of Malvedos are solid and often excellent.

The 1986 Malvedos is excellent; while the '84, '87' & '88 are all nice as well. The only one I haven't cared for is the 1990 Centenary. I've had it 3 times and none of the bottles really impressed me. It's okay, but not at the same level as the years that I've had. I wouldn't mind trying some from the '60's and 70's but they're difficult to source and usually pretty pricey. I'll have to keep and eye out for the 2008.

I've never been wowed by a Malvedos and generally find they fall short of regular Grahams vintages.
