Excellent and well documented article with statistical analysis but anything but boring.

Are you surprised to see the numbers increasing so steadily? I know what is reported in the article but in 2000, in reality of ALL American citizens, the number of people who had ever tried wine was only 11%. However, that is misleading because it included minors as well. I'd have to check their numbers vs. the population at the turn of the 21st century, but still think it was amazingly a small number and on a per capita basis we were very far down the list as a wine consuming country.

Finally got a chance to do some back-reading for all the time I missed and got to this article. Very interesting, but I have to agree with you Roy - 11% seems very low, even if you factor in the misleading inclusion of all minors.
