1948 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port

Like the 1963 Taylor VP, this bottle also had some past signs of sepage. However, that isn't always the kiss of death for a VP, as this bottle ultimately proved.
This VP started out a little light and simple and I didn't get my expectations up to high as I still had the memories of the '63 from the night before. Time would prove that to be a wrong assumption, very wrong! This wine continued to gain in weight and complexity the more it was exposed to air. Extraordinairely complex with soft floral roses, toffee, maple, pepper, and one of the longest finishes a VP can have. This is what a great VP is all about. 98 points.
