Hey all,

This is my first post. I was cleaning out my parents house and found a
1977 Taylor Fladgate
And
Unknown Year Warre's Warrior Porto (can't find a year anywhere on it).

I was curious how much these might be worth and whats the best way to sell them. I don't drink port and have very little knowledge about them.

Thanks.
Eric

Hi Eric, welcome to FTLOP!

The Warre's Warrior is their basic Ruby Port, which sells in stores for $10-$15. It's not intended to be cellared, so its value really doesn't change with age. It probably isn't worth the effort to sell it.

The 1977 Taylor Fladgate, on the other hand, is a very good VP (vintage port) that has aged well and could be quite excellent. That will depend on how it has been stored, however. If it has been kept in a cool, humid place during its life then you have a wonderful bottle of port that might be worth $150-$200. But if it has been stored in an area where the temperature changes, especially if it might have gotten hot, then the wine may be spoiled.

Thanks for the info. The 1977 was stored in my parents basement which is a fairly good environment (cool and somewhere between damp and dry). Whats the best place to sell those things?

I will buy the bottle. Is the ullage in the neck? (I'm going to get this email post straight eventually) Any seepage?

Let me know, and please give me a price to include shipping. Send it to my email jstormo@yahoo.com

Thanks.
James

What is the eulage? (the little label?). How do I tell if there is seepage?

Ullage is actually the fill level of the wine in bottle caused by natural evaporation through the cork. Seepage would also account for a lower ullage level but hopefully there has been none.
