Lots of great bottles. If these prices are even within the realms of reality, I must re-evaluate my entire Port collection as either I have much more gross worth than I believed or the prices for the bottles listed above are WAY out of line. I don't see a single bottle that seems to be a reasonable bargain (unless I lived in Canada).

No prices on older bottles have gone thru the roof lately. 1970 Taylors are now averaging $250-300+ a bottle

So what bargains from that list would you be buying Andy?

Actually none...after a recent large purchase my buying has been cut back big time.

Wine Searcher still shows 1970 Taylors available in the $150 range... even cheaper in Europe.

Glenn, most of those are auction houses and no longer have them in stock, or they are mail order places only where they list everything from their distributors book. If you call them, they won't be able to get it...or it will be much more in price. That is why I took the higher average from actual brick and mortor stores. The only downside to Winesearcher (or any search engine) is if the store doesn't remove the listing from their database, even if its sold out, it will still show up on WS with the old price.

These 3 don't seem to be too bad a price. Certainly the Graham is $199 worth of enjoyment if one has not had it, and the 55 Taylor is a winner for sure.

Actually, I always screen out auctions when I use wine-searcher, so all of the bottles I found are non-auction. I'm not yet comfortable buying from auction in the US, so screening them out is habit.

I did click through on two of the bottles and they're both still available for order over the internet. That doesn't guarantee anything, of course, but the only time I've ever ordered something only to discover that it was actually sold out already the store made good on the order since it was their mistake.

Granted, there are only 3 available for $150 or less, but they're there.

Going through many of the postings that I have not seen yet, I found this little gem amongst them... you are so right Roy. The '70 Dow IS actually available here in Edmonton (you can guess where)... and this price ($169) almost looks like a bargain next to what it is priced at here... $225C. With the dollar still hovering around par, this would be one that a guy would actually feel good about buying! :)
