TNR: 1997 Martinez Vintage Port

Has anyone tried this? I have found it selling for about $16 a bottle. Unless it is a real dog or has consistent flaws, I figure at that price I really can't go wrong. But I thought I'd throw it out to the group before I go buy a case...

I can't recall having this. But I would say grab one and open it right away to try it. If you like it then you can grab more. Either way, its a heck of a good price even if it ends up only being as good as a top notch LBV.

I had this once a few years ago, also because I found it selling for under $20. Unfortunately, I felt it lived up to the price. I didn't write any notes on it at the time, but just remember my overall impression of a pretty light bodied and not very balanced port that I didn't enjoy very much. If someone else says different I'd give it another shot perhaps, as I have still seen it in stores for around $20, but based on the bottle I drank, I wouldn't purchase another one.

Thanks for the info. Given that people aren't blown away with this, I am going to open up one bottle over the next week or so. If it is decent, I'll go back and buy more. At $16, it will have to be fairly unimpressive for me not to buy at least a couple of bottles...
