Hello,

In the last week, a friend of mine offer me a bottle of 1912 Porto! It's an Real Companhia Vinicola Garrafeira 1912
I'd like to know if anyone have any informations about this wine.

The cork seems to be in good conditions.

Otherwise, I also have a bottle of Portugal Velho - Real Companhia Vinicola - Vinho do Porto Velhissimo. What's that? How old is this Port? It's a normal tawny?

regards,
Frexou

Thanks Paulo,

For both I couldn't give you an exact answer, so hopefully someone else here can.

Can you post small pictures of the bottes and any other info from the labels (bottling dates, etc) That usually helps out a lot.

(adding a pic is as simple as clicking the "Upload Attachment" icon just below the reply box.)

Paulo,

Typically the old bottles of Real Companhia Vinicola have a multi-pictured crest on the white front label. Does yours look like this? I have had quite a few old Colheitas (doubtful this actually ever saw a demijohn though) and Garrafeira appears on many old bottles of Port that were even Basic Ruby and basic Tawny Ports too. The difference here is the actual date (although back then they often left off the date of bottling) of 1912. I've had other Colheitas from this year and they've always been pretty fantastic. The Colheitas I've had from 1870-1890 by RCV were ALL really fine bottles to different degrees. Hopefully yours was held in good conditions along the way.

Don't be a stranger Paulo!
