This was an odd duck. It smelled fine and tasted ok when I first popped the cork. I did not try it again until I was ready to drink it much later on. I have four or five ounces to Glenn from FTLOP to try too.

The color was a dark magenta and showed exactly as I would have expected. The nose was a bit odd though, with freshly laid road tar, stewed prunes, creosote, iodine and a ton of volatility. Not exactly what I am looking for in a 16 year old fPort rom a fine vintage. The palate was hot and disjointed and I could not pick out any single flaw and although it was not corked, this pretty much sucked. It was not cooked and it was not corked. Nonetheless, there was nothing to like about it. Damn!

This exactly resume my first encounter with this VP. The 2 nd bottle was fine though. I hate when a VP is good but you don't know how much chance you have to find a correct bottle. Makes you avoid buying more :|

Wow, that's an interesting list of smells! Although now that you mention it, while searching back through my memory, I think I "get" the iodine. I just folded that into the overwhelming VA and called it ... er, good.
