I just finished my case of Niepoort

This weekend, I had the 12th bottle and I have only had this for a year or so. Amazing that I lacked such self control in drinking these, yet have been so very good about leaving the majority of 2005 Niepoort Redoma Branco Reserva untouched. The 2005 Niepoort Tiara is now history though. So easy to love, so much fun to drink. I really should have put one or two away to see what they were like with a few more years of bottle age. Am I sorry ... more in a nostalgic way. There will be plenty of other vintages of this to come. Very tasty juice considering the price!

Oh my God! You need some self control Roy. Right now Dirk is desperate to have given too many of his 2004 because this wine is aging in a way he never tought, saying that the wine is just so good. But again I can't be more agreeing with you, this wine is just the perfect summer friendly food wine. I only have 2-3 2006 left and I'm thinking too often of them, I'm not sure for how long I will hold. A few of my friends are also looking after them since they had the chance to taste it.

I remember while tasting my first 2005 Tiara, pre-release with Dirk and telling him that I preferred the style of the 2004. He told me the 2005 was the best Tiara he had ever made. Glad to hear he is seeing the beauty of the beauty of 2004 too. In fact, I preferred his 2004s in general to 2005, although not with the Redoma Branco Reserva.

I too love the Tiara and have gone through my fair share of them. I've tucked away 2 for future tasting, just to see how they hold up. Figure it would be fun to open one every 5 years or so.
1995 Niepoort Redoma Branco Reserva
Roy, do you mean the 2005?

I saw the 2004 Redomo Branco on the shelf for $24.00. Is that a good price?

IIRC, that is a little pricey. I think I paid $18-20 for the '05s on release

Thanks Andy, I fixed the typo.
Moses, if it is the regular bottling and not the Reserva, then yes, Andy is correct ... however it is a very sound buy and is WORTH $24 considering what that buys you domestically.
Joao, although to this point, the 2004 vintage is my favorite in modern times (although some I've had from 1991 were incredible!!!) for DOC Douro wines, from everyone I speak with and from the 2007s I've already tasted ... wait until you try the UNBELIEVABLE pair of reds made by Cristiano Van Zeller ... (tasted in May) that rocked my world ... I think we'll quickly be reading from just about everyone from JPM to Jancis to Squires to Hersh and others, including you of course, that 2007 is going to be even better than 2004. I hope to try some of the young VPs next month and in Oct. too, but will make sure to put out a serious report on 2007 cask samples, hopefully earlier than past vintage Port annual assessments.

Don't know if it is the Reserva. I'll go by and check. They had four bottles of it and that was the "marked down" price. Niepoort is hard to find on the shelf.
