Visiting the Douro this month?

I understand that Roy will be in the Douro later this month and I am just about to depart on Sunday 14th September for three weeks of intensive vindima photography and Quinta visits for A Good Nose.Com.

Though this is very short notice, it would be marvellous to hear from any forum contributors who will be in the Douro valley around the same time. It might be that our paths will cross as I am visiting between 30 to 40 quintas from Ervamoira all the way down to Régua.

I will undoubtedly see Fred, but it would be jolly nice to encounter other FTLOP members/contributors also :D

David,

I just replied to your post over at ThePortForum.com, but I read this forum more frequently so responding here would likely get a more prompt reply. :)

It would be a pleasure to meet you, but I'll be booked for the week I'm there in early October for the Harvest Trip. Maybe we'll cross paths and at least get to say hi.

Derek , pardon my naiveté , but what does it mean when one is rumbled ?

To be "rumbled" is to be discovered doing something naughty. Kids caught by a teacher smoking behind the bike sheds at school might say "we've been rumbled!" - Grown men who's wives are unexpectedly at home when 3 cases of port turn up in a delivery van might say "oh no! I've been rumbled :help: "

That is easily explainable...."Honey, they belong to [pick a name] not me. He is out of town for work and I am just holding them for him until he gets back."

I've been trying that one for years - Jo thinks most of the port I have in the house belongs to Al-B

But doesn't she wonder why YOU are the one drinking all of AB's port :help:

Haha... I was wondering what that meant!

I have to frequent both forums, otherwise I'd get kicked off for posting too much!

Naw, but your fellow Port drinker might cut back on sharing the purple stuff.

Sorry to reply to this late but I've been having my last lunch and dinner with David and tonight again we'll have some good wines and food and probably a good brainstorm.
